Partnerships and Creative Industry Development Officer

  • Band 6 Salary Range $87,923 to $95,839 plus 10% Super
  • Full time Permanent Role.
  • Located at St Kilda Town Hall or with flexible working arrangements possible.

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. About the Role

The creative economy in Port Phillip includes artists and arts organisations, cultural institutions and vocational academies, creative business incubators, a vibrant games development industry, film makers, live music makers and entrepreneurs, design and small manufacturing, digital and screen media, architects, fashion designers and makers, writers, composers, micro businesses, venues, craft distilleries and much more. 

The City’s cultural and creative ecosystem makes a powerful contribution to our identity, our lifestyle and our economy. Working within the Events, Partnerships & Industry Development team, the Partnerships and Creative Industry Development Officer will maximise the benefit of viability of Council’s key arts organisations and cultural partnerships. 

Duties: 

  • Support the growth and development of creative industries
  • Support the development, implementation and review of organisational arts and cultural plans, policies and strategies and ensure their integration with Council policies and strategies.
  • Build relationships and support for arts and cultural venues and organisations
  • Build and maintain positive and mutually beneficial partnerships with arts organisations, artists, creative industries practitioners, community reference committees and advisory panels.
  • Oversee relationships, and funding agreements with Council-owned cultural venues such as Gasworks Arts Inc and Linden New Art. 

Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of the arts and creative industries.
  • Knowledge and understanding of economic development principles.
  • Broad understanding of the policies of State and Federal Government, which impact on the capacity of local government to provide cultural services.
  • The ability to review, negotiate and critically appraise existing policies, procedures and deeds.
  • Contract administration and contract management skills.
