About the Role
- Interested in influencing recreation facility development and improvement outcomes in our iconic inner-city municipality?
- Had experience supporting project delivery teams to deliver successful and diverse capital projects for the benefit of community?
We are seeking someone who can oversee and monitor the portfolio of Sport and Recreation capital works projects, to ensure they are delivered on time, to budget and that the project benefits are achieved. The successful candidate would work directly with portfolio sponsors and project managers to enhance the delivery over 40 major projects each year, including upgrades to sports grounds, new skate parks, significant transformative projects like the Sandridge Sports Precinct and the major refurbishment of two soccer pitches at JL Murphy Reserve.
Working as part of a dedicated team, the successful candidate would need to have excellent interpersonal skills, be innovative, efficient and have experience working within Council project management frameworks.
Duties:
- Ensure Council is delivering a high standard of project management in the Recreation capital works portfolio, by ensuring projects are delivered to scope, on time, to budget and that benefits are achieved.
- To oversee the development, planning and monitoring of the portfolio and support project management delivery and planning teams providing quality assurance and best practice results for the community.
- To support the project sponsorship responsibilities for portfolio.
- To coordinate and prepare accurate and timely reporting.
- To analyse and continuously improve procedures and systems.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in coordinating the delivery of capital works projects in a local government context.
- Proven ability to work as a sponsor’s representative, with a track record of compliance with project governance, project methodology, status reporting and financial expenditure tracking.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and effectively with a range of stakeholders to ensure project benefits are realised.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve issues and risks associated with program/project delivery.
- Excellent written and presentation skills including demonstrated ability to skilfully communicate complex information and issues to a wide variety of audiences.
- Ability to be self-directed and efficiently allocate time and resources.
