Supervisor Waste Management

  • Salary Range Band 6 $95,799 to $104,420 plus 11.5% super 
  • Full time, permanent ongoing role

About City of Port Phillip 

We are a vibrant and diverse inner-city council stretching 20kms from South to Port Melbourne along the stunning bay beaches down to Elwood and out to St Kilda East with around 1000 people who all work together to deliver more than 100 programs and services to our engaged community of residents, businesses and visitors. What’s the role all about 

Are you a proactive and solutions-focused leader with a passion for delivering high-quality frontline services to the community? This exciting role will see you lead operational waste teams across bin services, public litter collection, and the South Melbourne Resource Recovery Centre, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Ideally, this role would suit a confident and hands-on supervisor with experience in waste operations or outdoor service delivery, strong people management skills, and a commitment to compliance, safety and customer service.

We have a collaborative and committed team who work together to deliver essential services that keep our city clean, sustainable and community-focused.

1 x full-time permanent opportunity.

What you might do 

  • Coordinate daily waste operations across public litter, bin deliveries, and the Resource Recovery Centre
  • Facilitate effective rostering, team supervision, training and performance development
  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement in field operations
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, and community members to support high service standards
  • Respond to service issues, customer requests and operational incidents with practical, timely solutions
  • Support compliance with EPA, OH&S and audit requirements through strong site and system oversight

Who we are looking for 

  • Demonstrated experience supervising waste services with a focus on team culture
  • Strong operational knowledge of litter collection, bin management or RRC operations
  • Skilled in rostering, staff oversight, and contractor coordination
  • Proven ability to resolve customer issues and improve service delivery
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence; relevant qualification or equivalent experience
