About the Organisation
The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. About the Role
As of Head of Libraries you will drive the vision to be one of Australia’s best inner urban networks of neighbourhood libraries, helping to make Port Phillip a creative, liveable, prosperous and socially connected city for everyone who lives and works here. Where our libraries are at the centre of Port Phillip’s culture, creativity and connection.
You will do this through:
- Providing a contemporary collection
- Driving the implementation of future oriented technology
- Providing spaces for engagement and connection for our diverse community
- Supporting our vulnerable community through partnerships with local organisations and through the social worker role.
- Continuing to be a place where diversity equity and inclusion is at the heart of everything we do
Duties:
- Lead the development and delivery Councils new Library Action Plan
- Drive innovation across spaces, collections, tech and programs
- Build and inspire high performing, inclusive multi site teams
- Strengthen partnerships and co design services with community
- Manage budgets, contracts, resources and compliance
Skills and Experience
- Degree + postgraduate qualifications
- Senior leadership experience managing complex library or community services
- Expertise in contemporary library trends and tech
- Proven success leading multi site teams and major programs
- Strong financial, planning and stakeholder skills
