Adult Programs Librarian

  • Salary Range Band 5 ($82,356 to $94,961) plus 12% super.
  • Permanent Full-time with rostered evening and weekend shifts as a requirement of this role.
  • Work across all library branches and other locations within the City of Port Phillip!

What’s the role all about

Are you a passionate and driven programmer looking to contribute to the delivery of library services that will benefit our community? Port Phillip Libraries is seeking an Adult Programs Librarian to deliver high quality programs and services that inspire learning, spark creativity, and build meaningful connections. You’ll play an important role in fostering a welcoming and inclusive library service for our diverse community.

What you might do

  • Develop, deliver and evaluate innovative programs for adults and seniors that respond to the diverse needs of our community.
  • Develop and deliver partnerships and community outreach activities to encourage community engagement, including with hard-to-reach groups.
  • Promote the use of the library collection by engaging in reader development activities.
  • Provide proactive customer service and act as shift supervisor during rostered customer service shifts.

Who we are looking for

  • You are positive and driven with a genuine passion for working with the community.
  • Degree or diploma in Library and Information Services with relevant experience, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial equivalent relevant experience in a public library, community services or arts and culture setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of innovative and effective adult programs in lifelong learning, technology, literacy and social inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing community partnerships and managing stakeholders.
  • A passion for diversity, equity and inclusion in libraries.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams in a flexible service environment with the ability to adapt and respond to changing priorities in a calm and measured manner.
